POSITION SUMMARY
To provide tutoring and academic support to students and maintain adequate and accurate tutoring records under the direction of the Tutoring Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in 1-1 and group settings required. Previous teaching or tutoring experience is highly desired. Demonstrated knowledge and competence in English composition or writing-based courses; tutors must have earned an “A” in the courses they are tutoring, or a “B” with a related instructor or supervisor recommendation. College transcripts will be required upon hire.
Exhibit excellent English, writing skills, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to confidentially maintain detailed records in accordance with FERPA. Strong time management and organizational skills required. Strong computer and related technology skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft® Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Zoom, Teams, or similar web-conferencing software and ability to learn new software programs quickly. Willingness/availability to tutor in both face-to-face and online modalities highly desired. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal direction and oversight and maintain a professional and ethical work environment. Any combination of work experience, training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted.
Hours flexible between 8am-7pm while classes are in session, to be arranged with the Tutoring Coordinator. Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned. Tutors may work up to 20 hours per week, weekly schedule may vary – subject to student demand and College needs. Duties, responsibilities, shift assignments, scheduling, etc. may be changed anytime.
Candidate may be subject to a background check. A valid driver’s license or dependable transportation is required.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This position is classified as Faculty and will teach in a wide range of educational venues to provide quality instruction to a diverse student population for the college, primarily in a classroom or office setting. Further information may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources.
