**Field Adjuster**
Location Department Position Reports To Location: Hickory, NC Department: Claims Position Reports To: Regional Claims Manager & District Claims Manager ** General Definition**
Investigates, evaluates, and negotiates settlements of multi-line insurance claims in a specifically assigned field territory and assists on special assignments.
** Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required**
Four-year college degree and/or business background; legal knowledge or ability to learn; mechanical/construction aptitude or ability; oral and written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with the public in stressful situations. Maintain CE in compliance with N.C. Department of Insurance and N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company requirements.
** Major Duties of Position**
* Verify coverage on loss assignments.
* Appraise damages (property and personal injury).
* Investigate losses and apply policy coverage.
* Determine legal liability for losses.
* Effect payment or denial of claims.
* Report on details of claims in various stages of development.
* Manage/control expenses and company equipment.
* Attend various meetings/classes on behalf of the company.
** Qualifications for Senior Field Adjuster**
* Recommendation from the Regional Claim Manager and District Claims Manager.
* Five years service as a Field Adjuster with N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
* Satisfactory completion of all four (4) sections for the AIC designation and INS 22 & 23 offered by the Insurance Institute of America.
* Successfully pass tests on contracts written by the company.
* Successfully pass tests on general claims knowledge, company background and organization information.
