How Do I Get Started?
Research bariatric surgery and determine if it is something that you really want to do. Obesity surgery is not an "easy way out" or a "quick fix". It is a major endeavor that helps most people but has resulted in death and unpleasant experiences for a few.
Find out what your body mass index (BMI) is and determine if you are a candidate for surgery. You can do this by reviewing the "Do I Qualify" section of this site.
If you are a candidate, you may not be sure which procedure is best for you. This is normal. You an learn more about your options at The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. All of your questions/concerns will be answered at your initial consultation. Together, you and your surgeon can reach a decision about which procedure is right for you.
Contact Kellie, our bariatric secretary, at (330) 344-1950 with your insurance information. Kellie will be happy to check with your insurance company to see if you have benefits for bariatric surgery and to see which procedures are covered. Some insurance companies have limits on bariatric coverage. If so, full prepayment is required prior to scheduling surgery.
